The Falmouth Road Race is a highlight of the summer season, attracting runners and spectators from near and far, for over 50 years. This iconic 7-mile race takes participants along a scenic route, with breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean, starting right here in wonderful Woods Hole. The energy and enthusiasm radiating from the crowd are contagious, making it a must-see event for sports enthusiasts and families. The race takes place in August each year and is highly competitive! We love to host runners and a stay at the Sands of Time during race weekend has become a tradition for many! The race also offers an At-Home Edition and the opportunity to run the Falmouth Road Race in the fall as well! 

Summer Events in Falmouth, Cape Cod: Cape Cod Baseball League

Calling all baseball lovers! The Cape Cod Baseball League is the premier collegiate summer baseball league in the country, and Falmouth is lucky to be home to the Falmouth Commodores. Should your travels take you to Falmouth Village you can admire the Commodores’ flags that dot charming Main Street. Catch a game at Guv Fuller Field, located behind the Falmouth Police Department, and witness the talent of these rising stars as they compete for a chance to shine in the big leagues. The seasonal schedule generally runs from June to August.

Weekly evenings during the summer, on Tuesday evenings in 2023, Falmouth Marine Park transforms into a vibrant open-air market, showcasing the works of local artists. Stroll through the colorful displays, engage with the artists, and find the perfect piece to take home as a memento of your time in fabulous Falmouth. More than two dozen artists and craftspeople offer paintings, prints, and photographs, jewelry, pottery, and fiber arts, including hand-woven items, sewn and knitted products, handmade apparel, handcrafted wooden and paper items, and soaps, lotions, a variety of decorative items. Visitors and residents alike are sure to fall in love with these unique and beautiful handmade offerings, capturing the essence of Cape Cod! The Falmouth ArtMarket also offers live entertainment, and Cape Cod musicians play and sing lively music to accompany this unique seaside shopping experience.

Every Thursday evening in July and August enjoy the sounds of the Falmouth Town Band at the Music and Arts Pavilion at Marine Park near the Falmouth Harbor! The band is one of the largest community bands in New England, composed of approximately 80 members with a wide variety of ages and professions. A varied selection of music is provided for all ages. All concerts are free of charge and open to the public. Bring your chair or blanket for your comfort and enjoyment.

Another great way to enjoy these fleeting summer nights is to attend Falmouth Village’s Movies Under the Stars! Grab a delicious dinner at one of Falmouth Village’s popular restaurants, and bring your own blanket or chair to the Falmouth Library lawn to enjoy some free outdoor family fun on the Falmouth Library Lawn on Wednesday evenings. Films start at dusk, weather permitting.

Summer Events in Falmouth, Cape Cod: Falmouth Fireworks

One of the only fireworks displays that typically happens on July 4th on Cape Cod, weather permitting. Voted one of the 10 best fireworks displays in the country by Travel and Leisure magazine, the fireworks typically start at dusk on Falmouth Heights Beach. In the nearby park food trucks and vendors come out to celebrate the holiday and offer snacks and refreshments for your enjoyment.

ArtsFalmouth Inc. hosts Arts Alive each summer, a multi-day event across multiple venues including the Falmouth Library Lawn, Shore Street Extension, and Peg Noonan Park in downtown Falmouth. Arts Alive is an annual celebration of the visual, performing, and literary arts, with dozens of performances and creative artists selling their wares, plus participatory art activities, children’s activities, a scavenger hunt, and more. Arts Alive collaborates with other local organizations to host this inclusive community event that is free and open to all.

Lobsters on the Lawn is a popular event held on Monday nights starting at 4:30PM at Saint Barnabas’s Episcopal Church in Falmouth Village in July and August.  Lobster rolls, chips, and pie can be enjoyed on the big lawn across from the Falmouth Village Green. Guests can also enjoy the sounds of a rotating selection of live music each week. Nothing beats enjoying fresh seafood surrounded by friends on a summer night on beautiful Cape Cod!

Falmouth plays host to one of the most highly anticipates events on Cape Cod each year, the Barnstable County Fair, which takes place at the Cape Cod Fairgrounds in East Falmouth. For seven days every July, enjoy world-class entertainment, amusement, food, agriculture, and fun at the Cape Cod Fairgrounds which is home to almost 100 acres of open grounds, show rings, barns, a stage, and tons of indoor function space! The Fairgrounds are run by the Barnstable Agriculture Society, a privately owned and operated 501c3 non-profit organization that supports the entire Cape Cod community through scholarships, programming, and unique community partnerships.
